In a vain attempt to situate the present, post- creates media, interaction, architecture, writing and image, fully aware that everything's already happened, and one day if we’re lucky, it might happen again…Seeking to reinvent the practice and process of spatial production, post- expands the boundaries of the architectural profession to search for new ways of fostering conscious participation and environmental co-creation.
post- is Emma Silverblatt & Ryan Whitby
Ryan Whitby is a designer working between the fields of architecture, engineering, and interactive art. With a focus on generative tools, his work seeks to blur the boundaries between digital design and the built environment. As the senior designer at SOFTlab for ten years, Ryan led the conceptual design, technical development, and physical construction of installation-scale projects all over the world.
Ryan holds a B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University and an M. Arch from Pratt Institute. He is currently a visiting critic at Cornell College of Architecture Art and Planning.
Emma Silverblatt is a designer with a focus on cultural production. Most recently as an associate at SO – IL, Emma has led a number of architectural projects, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Cleveland, Ohio. Emma also coordinated the Jackson Heights team for UDF and Van Alen’s Neighborhoods Now program, providing pro-bono design services directly to communities. Prior to SO – IL, Silverblatt worked at R EX on the World Trade Center Performing Arts Center, where she developed the facade and theater interior scopes.
Emma holds a B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University and an M. Arch. I with Commendation from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is currently a visiting critic at Cornell College of Architecture Art and Planning.
